Kenya Pipeline has halted the construction of the 5,000 metric tonnes LPG depot project in Eldoret, citing budgetary constraints.
The firm, which has slashed its capital expenditure budget by KSh6 billion, had in 2017 identified a 5–acre piece of land adjacent to its Eldoret depot for the LPG plant, which was to be developed in partnership with Total.
The project, which was supposed to take shape after completion of the new KSh48 billion 450km Mombasa-Nairobi Pipeline, has however not received any funding from the government, despite completion of the new pipeline which became operational in July 2018.
Kenya Pipeline Company is a state corporation that has the responsibility of transporting, storing and delivering petroleum products to the consumers of Kenya by its pipeline system and oil depot network.
