Kenya Pipeline Company(KPC) has confirmed sufficient fuel stocks in all its depots across the country.
This follows fuel shortages at the pump at various pump stations, including Nairobi and parts of Western Kenya.
Oil marketers are said to be hoarding fuel products following failure of the state to compensate them for the rising costs of importing oil products through a subsidy scheme.
In a statement issued on 2nd April 2022, KPC said that its current stock position in all its facilities is sufficient.
The state agency said it holds 13 million litres of kerosene, 69 million litres of super petrol, 94 million litres of diesel and 23 million litres of jet fuel.
“Kenya Pipeline Company would like to confirm ample stocks of petroleum products in our system throughout the country to meet demand,” said Dr Macharia Irungu, Managing Director-KPC.
He said that the firm’s stock holding is adequate to serve the region, with more ships in Mombasa queued for discharge.
