According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the country’s October inflation shot up slightly to 6.47 percent year-on-year from 6.34 percent posted in September mainly as a result of rise food and petrol prices.
On a month-on-month basis, the consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.62 percent from 171.56 in September 2016 to 172.62 in October 2016.
“Between September and October 2016, food and noalcoholic drinks’ index increased by 0.96 per cent. This was attributed to increase in prices of several food items which outweighed the decreases,” said KNBS in a statement.
