    Kenya Moves Closer to Appointing a New Auditor General

    The Public Service Commission has shortlisted 10 candidates for the position of Auditor General (AG) scheduling interviews for June 2-3, 2020. Kenya has been without an AG since 27 August 2019 when Edward Ouko completed his 8-year non-renewable tenure.

    The 10 candidates who were selected from 64 applicants and include; Leonard Lari, Edwin Kamar, Benson Okundi, Silvester Kiini, Elizabeth Nguring’a, Idris Abdullahi, Meshack Onyango, Nancy Gathungu, Paul Masinde, and Dennis Kariuki.

    Finding Ouko’s replacement has been marred with controversy as courts suspended the appointment process forcing PSC to readvertise the position in December 2019. The absence of an auditor general led some listed state-owned corporations to delay releasing their financial results.
