    Kenya Lists Licensed Insurance Services Providers

    The Commissioner of Insurance has published a list of licensed insurance firms that will engage in the business in 2020.

    In a notice signed by Godfrey K. Kiptum, Commissioner of Insurance, there are 131 brokers, 117 investigators, 26 loss adjustors, 22 medical insurance providers, 100 motor assessors, 13 re-insurance brokers and 8 risk managers licensed to undertake insurance-related business in 2020,

    A total of 61 licensed insurance firms have been permitted to provide long term covers, medical covers, general insurance, as well as micro insurance, and miscellaneous products.

    Insurance products available in the Kenyan market include Life Assurance, Annuities, Pensions, Group Life, Group Credit, Permanent Health cover, and Investments for those engaged in the long-term business.

    General insurance firms provide covers such as Aviation, Engineering, Fire Domestic, Fire Industrial, Liability, Marine, Motor Private, Motor Commercial, Personal Accident, Theft, Workmen’s compensation, Medical, and Micro insurance.

    Those authorized to be risk managers include Alpha Risk Management Limited, Continental Adjusters (Kenya) Ltd, Elex Engineering Services Limited, Minet Kenya Consulting Limited, Protectors Limited, Quantarisk Limited, Rimacs Consultants Limited and Safety Surveyors Limited.

    A total of 22 firms have been authorized to provide medical insurance in 2020. They are Acropolis Insurance Brokers, Armchair Insurance Brokers Limited, Bahari Insurance Brokers Limited, BTB Insurance Brokers Limited, Chester Insurance Brokers Limited, Eagle Africa Insurance Brokers Kenya Limited, Executive Healthcare Solutions Limited, Goldstar Healthcare Limited, Gras Savoye Kenya Insurance Brokers Limited, H. S Jutley Insurance Brokers Limited, Healthline Solutions Limited and J.W. Seagon and Company Limited.

    Others are Kenbright Healthcare Administrators Limited, Laser Insurance Brokers Limited, Liaison Healthcare Limited, Lifecare International Insurance Brokers Limited, MIC Global Risks (Insurance Brokers) Limited, Minet Kenya Insurance Brokers Limited, Mutual Trust Insurance Brokers Limited, Pelican Insurance Brokers (K) Limited, Sobhag Insurance Brokers Limited and Zamara Risk and Insurance Brokers Limited.

    Those licensed to undertake re-insurance brokerage business include Acentria International Reinsurance Brokers Company Limited, BTB insurance Brokers Limited (Re-Insurance), First Reinsurance Brokers Limited, FretibIack Insurance Brokers Limited, Kenbright Reinsurance Brokers Limited, Klapton Reinsurance Brokers Limited, Levites International Reinsurance Brokers Limited, Liaison Re Limited, MIC Reinsurance Brokers Limited, Minet Kenya Insurance Brokers Limited, Nairobi Reinsurance Brokers Limited, Prestige Reinsurance Brokers Limited and Unicorn Insurance Brokers Limited.
