Kenya has pledged a total of KSh50 million to the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP). The amount is geared towards ACP’s new endowment Fund. The fund is seeking to promote the sustainability of the group’s activities.
Speaking at the ACP summit in Nairobi, president Uhuru Kenyatta said the amount will go a long way in ensuring a transformation of the region.
Speaking at the same event, Barbados Prime Minister, Mia Mottley, also asked member states to shift economic development focus from raising the gross domestic product to ensuring that ordinary citizens feel the impact of the growth.
Other countries which have also pledged funds include Papua New Guinea and Ghana, which have pledged funds that a board drawn from member states would manage.
