The Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) is set to soon launch a capacity building program seeking to equip MSMEs with the necessary skills to grow, scale and manage their business organization. Dubbed Inuka na SME, the program will seek to deliver classes via the web and through face-to-face learning of different modules to empower these business owners. The face-to-face learnings will take place in different towns across the country while the web classes will be delivered via the Inuka na SME web portal.
The modules covered include value chain and operations, financial modelling, human resource and law delivered by lecturers from Kenya Institute of Management which collaborated with the Kenya Chamber of Commerce, Kenya association of Manufacturers and Micro & Small enterprises Authority to develop the curriculum for the same.
Under the business planning for micro-enterprises, business owners will learn the steps critical in formalizing their businesses. The program seeks to ensure businesses grow from their current stages and this module will teach the owners how to establish formal business structures. Operations and value chain management on the other hand seeks to introduce business owners to the dynamics of operations management and how to institute efficiency within their operations as their businesses continue to scale. Marketing and business communication on the other hand seeks to ensure business owners understand their terrain and as such grow their incomes. It tackles aspects such as marketing mix, market orientation, critical elements for SMEs seeking to scale and grow their business operations.
Overall, the curriculum presents a unique opportunity to equip small business owners with the skills, knowledge and information to prepare them for their next big business leap while inculcating them with skills to ensure their business become part of the formal economy.
KBA believes the training should be free, because every small business owner deserves the opportunity to learn and grow. If you are interested in attending the three day workshop that begins next month, please. Register here!
