Kenya Airways has signed an agreement with AccesRail to connect its passengers to different destinations in Europe through train transfers. The new deal will allow passengers to buy an air ticket and connect to train service in Britain and the Schengen Area. Moreover, the partnership will enhance KQ’s product offering in Europe, increasing KQ’s passengers from Europe.
Customers will be able to book travel through the KQ Global Distribution system.
“Customers will now have the ability to buy an air ticket and connect to train services in the UK, and the Schengen Area…to allow passengers to access more European destinations that might not have airports within but have train stations,” said Ursula Silling, KQ Chief Commercial Officer.

The deal will allow the carrier to provide for customers in cities with train stations instead of airports. For instance, KQ will connect passengers to its Rome-Italy flight from Fiumicino Airport to 27 train stations in Italy.
Additionally, Accesrail will connect airports to 48 train stations in the United Kingdom. This includes linking train stations to Heathrow in London and the Netherlands to Belgium from Schiphol airport.
Partnership to Offer Affordable Expansion for Kenya Airways
Europe is an essential market for the Airline owing to the significant traffic of tourists. The agreement will not only enhance network expansion but also help KQ maintain a strong competitive position in Europe. AcesRail VP Andrew Popescu notes that the partnership will serve KQ a significant advantage at a minimal cost.
“We are determined to help the operator expand its networks at no real cost, network consolidation opportunities with minimum passenger loss, to give better service to existing customers, to offer better load factor at a lower cost, and to assist KQ to maintain a strong competitive position in Europe.” Mr. Popescu commented.
