The National Assembly’s National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities committee has called for senior managers from the Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen) to appear before them over claims of corruption and irregularities at the Olkaria office in Naivasha.
Nepotism and Corruption
According to official documents, more than 100 people have been employed at the Olkaria office in the last two years, with most of them having family ties with senior KenGen officials.
The committee now wants the company’s management to be investigated for nepotism and corruption. Additionally, they also want 30 per cent of the jobs at the geothermal site in Olkaria to be given to the residents.
