Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has announced a further delay in the release of audited financial results.
State corporations are required to publish their audited financial results within 3 months from the last day of the financial year. In this case, KenGen’s year ended on June 30, 2019, thus results were due on September 30, 2019.
An earlier statement indicated that KenGen would publish the results by 30 November 2019.

However, KenGen blames the government’s failure to appoint an Auditor-General for the delay.
According to Company Secretary Paul Ndungi, “the office of the Auditor-General has advised KenGen that the release of the audited financial results shall continue to be delayed due to the ongoing process of appointing a new auditor general.”
KenGen will publish the results once a new Auditor-General is in office.
