    KBC Fails to Remit KSh984.3 Million Employee Retirement Benefits

    Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has failed to remit employee retirement benefits of upto KSh984.3 million.

    According to a report by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu, KBC has equally not remitted other unspecified statutory deductions amounting to KSh464.6 million, cooperative liabilities of KSh28.3 million, and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) dues of KSh712.3 million.

    Ms Gathungu says the statement of financial position reflects trade and other payables balance of KSh2.6 billion. Included in the balances are statutory and other deductions of KSh2.2 billion.

    “Retirees have not been paid over the past one year. 5 saccos are owed about KSh50 million while various banks are demanding KSh10 million from the State broadcaster,” says the Communication Workers Union (Cowu) General-Secretary Benson Okwaro.

    Elsewhere, Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK), alias Posta, has also failed honour its taxes and retirement benefits obligations, failing to remit employee and taxman dues amounting to KSh1.8 billion.
