Kakuzi Plc, the local producer of superfoods, is set to participate in the FRUIT LOGISTICA trade show in Berlin, Germany, as it seeks trade opportunities in Europe, particularly with avocado and blueberry buyers.
Kakuzi Plc will be among the 2594 international fresh produce trade stakeholders participating in the FRUIT LOGISTICA trade show from February 8th -10th.
The Managing Director, Christopher Flowers, confirmed the firm’s participation in the European market trade show and stated that this decision was made after a successful 2022 trading season, which left the firm end the year with a total order book for its avocados.
Kakuzi’s participation in the trade show is also part of the firm’s contribution to national development by seeking export-led growth opportunities. Every fruit we export carries a Kenya-quality reputation. Both the Europeans and the new Chinese market are demanding high-quality fruit, and that’s got to be our enduring objective; giving our customers a fruit they want more of while sustaining Kenya’s market and brand positioning.
Managing Director – Christopher Flowers,
According to the latest European Statistics Handbook from FRUIT LOGISTICA, a trend is emerging where the price is becoming a crucial factor in consumer spending.
The report highlights that, despite the market recovering post-Covid, the cost of living crisis puts pressure on demand and value in some instances. This has caused a decrease in the significance of factors like sustainability, regionality, and organics for some consumers.
The report also reveals that avocados and blueberries continue to be among the top five fresh fruits imported into Europe, with Italy and the United Kingdom reporting an average of 12 and 15 per cent growth in volume, respectively, over the last decade.
