The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced operationalizing a new parking management system at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
KAA says that the new system is in line with strategic plan to increase JKIA’s annual handling capacity to over 10 million passengers from the current 8 million passengers.
Moreover, the airport has over 14,000 daily vehicular movements with over 20,000 passengers drops and pick-ups.
The new parking system features innovations such as displaying available parking spaces at the different airport parking zones on entry.
Customers will pay via mobile money specifically M-pesa using USSD code *486*12, thus eliminating pay points at exit points hence improving vehicular movement.
Another interesting feature is the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip system that scans vehicle details to allow swift passage through the airport.
