Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has appointed June Chepkemei as the Acting Managing Director of Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), taking over from Olivia Rachier.
The appointment tasks June Chepkemei with the responsibility of spearheading strategies to attract and grow investments in the country from the current KES 62.3 billion to KES 1.2 trillion by the end of 2023.

The authority, established in 2004, is responsible for promoting and facilitating domestic and foreign investments in the country by creating a favourable environment for investors. In addition, it develops viable investment prospects and provides post-investment services to investors.
June Chepkemei, a former communications business partner at Safaricom and a former member of Kass Media International, joined the authority after serving on the Taskforce on the Kenya Media Policy Guidelines.
Under her leadership, she has accomplished a significant milestone by launching the Konza Innovation Ecosystem Initiative, which brings together different industry stakeholders to support the commercialization of research, innovation, and the development of new solutions and businesses within Konza Technopolis.
The initiative was honoured as the third most inspiring solution by the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP).
So far, over 100 enterprises have been established through the initiative.
