Jumia breaks the Internet with Kshs 1000 ‘Heineken deal’

E-commerce retailer Jumia has reported to taking over the online market place with Heineken and Amstel 20 pack beer deals being sold out within minutes of going live each day. The packs are valued at Ksh 1000 (down from Ksh 3000).

Jumia has sold over 5000 packs of the beers during its “Heineken Party” flash sale which is part of the ongoing  6th Anniversary celebrations.

BMI Research firm puts beer consumption in the country at a remarkable annual growth rate of approximately 11 per cent between 2017 and 2021.

An analysis by Deutsch Bank Market Research has showed that Kenya is Africa’s third largest alcohol consumer after Nigeria and South Africa.

The research was based on international beer maker Diageo’s sales on the continent putting Kenya’s alcohol market share at 17 per cent of the continent’s total behind Nigeria with 36 per cent and South Africa with 18 per cent.

The 6th anniversary campaign is also featuring deals on over 1.5 million products, with discounts of up to 60% off. This covers categories such as electronics, groceries, fashion, and beauty among others and across brands such as Huawei, Pampers, and LC Waikiki & Samsung.

Earlier in the month the retailer introduced a free 3-month guarantee on products valued above Ksh 1500 in a bid to enhance customer trust and confidence in online shopping.

The guarantee will take responsibility for any unsatisfactory products and offer customers an immediate replacement or refund.

Jumia: Expert Tip so you don’t miss out on this deal

In contrast to the longer lasting flash sales, the “Heineken Party” Flash Sales last for just a few minutes due to the high demand. Only customers with the fastest fingers will secure the deal before stocks run out each day. To maximize your chance on all the deals, log in to your account before 12pm every day, and refresh the page to make sure the item is live. Add your item to the cart, and checkout immediately (as the stock can run out if other customers beat you to it!)
