    Joseph Kinyua Elected Chairman of KCB Group

    Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group Plc has announced the election of Dr. Joseph Kinyua as the new Chairman of the Board, subject to regulatory approval. The appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Andrew Wambari Kairu, who served as Chairman for a term of five years in line with the Board Charter. Dr. Kinyua’s election marks a significant development for the bank, bringing in a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public administration.

    Dr. Joseph Kinyua joined the Board of KCB Group Plc on March 24, 2023. He has had an illustrious career spanning over 44 years in public service, including his previous role as the Head of Public Service. Throughout his career, Dr. Kinyua has played a pivotal role in implementing key government initiatives and reforms.

    Before his appointment as the Head of Public Service in 2013, Dr. Kinyua held various senior positions in the government, notably serving as the Permanent Secretary to the National Treasury.

    The retirement of Mr. Andrew Wambari Kairu from the Board of Directors is effective from May 26, 2023. Mr. Kairu had served as the Group Chairman for the maximum tenure of five years.
