    John Staley Leaves Equity Bank After 14 Years

    John Staley, the brain behind some of Equity Bank’s best digital payment solutions including Equitel, has left the company after 14 years.

    John Staley was the Head of Finance, Innovation and Technology, a position he assumed in June 2013. He joined the bank in 2003 having served various roles including director of operations, director of Mobile Banking and Payment Innovations.The Kenyan Wallstreet

    The Bank has appointed a Nigerian, Anthony E. Ogbechie as the new Group Director of Finance. Mr Ogbechies has over 16 years of international banking experience having worked for a number of financial institutions across Europe and Africa. He joined Equity Bank as the Finance Director in 2014 from UBA Capital Plc (Nigeria) where he served as the Group Chief Finance Officer.

    Other senior appointments made by the bank include the appointment of Rwandese, Dr Patrick Uwizeye as the chairman of Finserve Africa Ltd, the bank’s mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) trading as Equitel.

    Mr Jack Ngere has also been promoted to the position of Managing Director of Finserve Africa. He previously worked for British Telecoms with assignments in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Peru and Japan.
