Traffic at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has recorded an increase with Mombasa, Dubai and Entebbe being the top three destinations for passengers out of the airport.
Data from the Kenya Airports Authority shows that 687,669 passengers were recorded in the month of September compared to 635,522 recorded in the same month last year while cargo received at JKIA increased by 31 per cent to 33.9 million kilograms compared to 25.8 million in September last year.
Passenger movement in Kisumu International Airport, Moi International Airport in Mombasa and Eldoret Airports also increased to register 37.7 per cent, 16 per cent and 10 per cent passenger growth in the same period.
Moi International Airport in Mombasa recorded the highest number of flights among the three, recording 2,378 flights in the month followed closely by Kisumu International Airport which recorded 996 aircraft landing. The Eldoret based airport recorded the lowest number of flights landing in the month with only 755 flight landing.
However, despite the Moi international Airport recording an increase in the number of flights, there was an 18 per cent decrease in number of cargo at the port.
