    Jennifer Karina Retires As Chairperson of Kenya Reinsurance Board

    Jennifer Karina, who was appointed as Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited Board of Directors Chairperson in July 2021, has retired after serving in that position for one year. She made this decision at the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation virtual 24th Annual General Meeting(AGM).

    Jennifer is in possession of a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Durham and a Kenya Institute of Professional Counselling Higher Diploma in Psychological Counselling.

    Jennifer attended professional leadership courses from various institutes, including Harvard Business School, Singapore Institute of Management, and Strathmore Business School.

    Jennifer Karina’s professional career and work experience

    Ms Jennifer began her professional career at Dawa Pharmaceuticals Limited in Kenya in 1977. She then became Manager in charge of Operations at Ljubljanska Bank East Africa Representative Office five years later.

    She has also been a director at Narika Company Limited for four years, from 1998 to 2012.

    Jeniffer was MD of Anchor Consult between 2005 to 2014 and is currently the Kenya Girl Guides Association Chief Commissioner.

    She has previously sat at the Kenya Re Human Resources and Nominations Committee as the chairperson.

    During its 24th AGM, shareholders approved the payment of a final dividend payout of KSh 280m total dividends package for the year ended 31st December 2021.

    The payment of first and final dividends of KSh 0.10 per share for the financial year ended 31st December 2021 will be made to shareholders on the share register as of 17th June 2022 and will be paid on or about 29th July 2022.

    Ms Jennifer Karina told shareholders that approval of the dividend payout was a demonstration of their confidence in the future growth of Kenya Re.

    She added that there are brighter prospects for Kenya Reinsurance Corporation in 2022.

    Jadiah Mwarania, Kenya Re Managing Director, told shareholders at the virtual AGM that the firm’s business development strategy remained focused on differentiation and profitable growth coupled with appropriate capital allocation.

    Kenya Reinsurance Corporation’s footprint in 2021 was 482 insurance companies spread out in 84 countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. e Corporation.

    Kenya was the biggest single market in 2021. A regional approach to service delivery was employed through the Corporation’s subsidiaries in Uganda, Zambia, and Côte d’Ivoire.

    During the Kenya Re Annual General Meeting, Dr Catherine Ngima Kimura, Mrs Thamuda Omar Hassan, Mrs Eunice Atieno Nyala and Robert Kariuki Waruiru were elected directors.
