Miniso, a renowned Japanese lifestyle and fast fashion brand that sells merchandise such as homeware, bags and electronics, has announced plans to open its third Kenyan outlet at The Hub Mall in Karen in August 2018.
The low-cost retail chain said the the plan is part of its expansion strategy in Africa while at the same time confirming plans to expand its local presence with a mix of directly owned and franchised outlets countrywide.
“As part of our expansion strategies at MINISO, we are planning to develop more than 100 stores in Kenya directly and on a franchise model.” noted MINISO Lifestyle Kenya Business Development Manager, Dean Zhu.
Miniso opened its first Kenyan at the Village Market in December last year and few weeks later at the Thika Road Mall (TRM), space that was previously occupied by Woolworths.
In Africa, MINISO’s footprint covers Nigeria, Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco and Madagascar with over 2,600 stores across the world.
Last year (2017), MINISO’s global turnover stood at $1.2 billion while sales from external markets came in at $737 million.
