Jamii Bora Bank Chief Executive Samuel Kimani has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) effective June 6, 2016.

He takes over from former KenGen MD Mr Eddy Njoroge, who stepped down from the Board last week after nine years, six of which he served as Chairman.

Mr Sam Kimani has worked at KCB Bank in the capacity of a Finance Director and later as the Deputy CEO. He also worked at Central Bank of Kenya as the Chief Banking Manager and Deputy Director, Financial Markets.

Speaking after the appointment, Mr Kimani said “I am very honored and privileged to be appointed as the next Chairman of the leading Securities Exchange in East and Central Africa. I salute the outgoing Chairman and will build on his excellent stewardship. I am very confident that in line with our Strategic Plan, the Exchange will continue to further entrench its vision through continuous product innovation and technology enhancement. I look forward to working together with the NSE Board, staff and stakeholders. I am confident that this is a pivotal era for the NSE as we seek to enhance investor participation in our market,”

Others re-elected to the board include Faida Investment Bank MD Bob Karina as its Vice-Chairman, Sharon Maviala and Hosea Kili both as Non-Executive Independent Directors  and for the first time in the board is Mr Paul Vollant, the general manager business development TNG Ltd.
