Jambojet to increase flights to coastal towns

Low-cost carrier Jambojet is set to increase flight frequency to coastal towns of Mombasa, Ukunda (Diani), and Malindi. Jambojet will offer an extra 23% seat capacity to the coastal destinations in anticipation of the August peak season.

Jambojet CEO Allan Kilavuka said that the airline would operate 48 weekly flights to Mombasa up from the 40 flights it operates. In addition, Ukunda and Malindi will have three additional weekly flights moving the frequency to twice daily.

Mr. Kilavuka added,” August is peak season, which means increased numbers of passengers are flying out to our various coastal destinations. We are responding to our customers’ demands.”

Jambo jet became Kenya’s only low-cost airline to receive IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration. IOSA audit creates an internationally accepted standard evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.

According to the CEO, the increased flight frequency is aligned with the company’s core promise of providing convenience, safety, and reliability. Moreover, the flights will offer flexibility and flight variety to travel to coastal destinations.

The budget airline has flown more than 2.5 million passengers since inception in 2014 with first-time flyers accounting for about 30% of its customers. Kisumu, Eldoret, and Entebbe will retain at 21, 20, and 10 weekly flights respectively.
