Jambojet’s plan to fly to Somalia has been stalled after Somali authorities denied the carrier morning landing slots. Somalia authorities argued that there is high traffic during that time.
The increased passenger demand on the route necessitated the airline to initiate the Mogadishu route, which now stands frozen until they are granted the landing slots.
We have put the plans on hold as we review whether the route will fit within our current operations. We will advise once we have a way forward.
Allan Kilavuka, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer
The airline is a Kenyan low-cost carrier that started operating in 2014. It is a subsidiary of Kenya Airways and is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It flies to Malindi, Ukunda, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kigali and Entebbe, Uganda. Jambojet plans to expand to South Sudan, Tanzania, DRC, Comoros and Malawi.
