Jambojet has increased its frequency of flights to Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), from the current three times a week to four times per week, starting June 2022.
The move is seen as the carrier’s efforts stepping up competition with carriers such as RwandaAir that operates on the route.
Nevertheless, the carrier that started passenger operations on the route in September last year says the increase in frequency is as a result of increased demand on the route.
Earlier this year, the carrier also launched cargo operations to Goma, targeting hundreds of traders in the market.
The airline is taking advantage of the huge business opportunity that the African market has to offer, as well as the rising demand for air connectivity in the region.
Meanwhile, Kenyan firms have committed to invest over $1.6 billion in DRC in various projects and sectors. This disclosure was made by Equity Group, which participated in last year’s Kenya-DRC trade mission that attracted the participation of 26 Kenyan small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs.
Early this month, Jambojet also increased flight frequencies to its key destinations, including Mombasa, Malindi, Eldoret, Kisumu, and Ukunda routes. This followed increased demand ahead of the Easter holiday. However, the increased flight frequencies to these destinations will only be operational up to 23rd April 2022.
