A consortium of insurers has suspended credit services at Nairobi Women’s Hospital (NWH). The Association of Kenya Insurers CEO, Tom Gichuhi, says they agreed during a meeting on Monday to cut ties with NWH in future.
The consortium led by UAP, AAR, and CIC insurance cited cost inflation by the hospital administration and unnecessary tests as the reason for their action.
The move comes after a thread of WhatsApp messages indicating cost inflation at the hospital emerged.
According to a public notice, cash paid to the hospital will not be reimbursed . The insurers have advised their clients to seek medical care at other health facilities.
KRA earlier today (6th Feb) suspended NWH from its list of service providers advising staff to visit other facilities till the matter is resolved.
Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council is already conducting an independent probe into the claims.
