President William Ruto has appointed Moses Wekesa Mwambu Mabonga chair of the non-Governmental organisations board.
Before the appointment, he served as the chairman of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA). His position at the Insurance Regulatory Authority has been taken by Moses Njenga Chege, who will serve for a three-year period beginning September 15.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3B (1) (a) of the Insurance Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Moses Chege to be the Chairperson of the Insurance Regulatory Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 15th September, 2023. The appointment of Moses Wekesa Mwambu Mabonga is revoked,” reads a gazette notice.
As the new chair of the non-governmental organization co-ordination board, Mabonga replaces Gichira Kibaara, whose appointment has been revoked.
Other appointments in the Gazette notice dated affected the Retirement Benefits Authority, Anti-Counterfeit Authority, Pharmacy and Poisons Board, Kenya Medical Research Institute, Kenya Wildlife Service, Athi Water Works Development Agency, Financial inclusion fund advisory board and the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
The Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Alice Wahome revoked the appointment of Johnstone Kinyua as a member of the Board of Directors of the Athi Water Works Development Agency.
