    Instagram piloting Fundraiser feature

Instagram, a free online photo-sharing application running on Facebook, has rolled out a feature that will enable users to raise money to support a business, a friend or for personal causes.

The social network platform intends to pilot a Personal Fundraiser in the US, UK and Ireland on Android, followed by iOS.

Instagram users who live in a country where they can donate to a fundraiser through the Instagram donation sticker, are also eligible to donate to a Personal Fundraiser on Android.

Available figures indicate that since January 2020, over US$ 100 Million has been raised across instagram and facebook globally, to assist those hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the USA, funds have been raised to buy medical equipment for Black Lives Matter protesters, rebuild Black-owned small businesses affected by COVID-19 and funding educational resources related to racial justice.
