Royal Orchid, India’s fastest growing hotel chain has announced that it will in December this year open a new 60-bed five-star luxury facility in the Maasai Mara National Park at a cost of Sh150 million.
The hotel chain Nairobi chairman, Parbat Pindoria said the facility will give Royal Orchid a competitive edge when tourists come to watch the great wildebeest migration in the park.
“We have been losing guests to rivals when our guests want to have a Safari experience in the Mara. The new development will be a circuit that guests rotate through either coming from Nairobi, Mombasa or Amboseli,” he said.
Dubbed “Mara Azure”, it will be located near Talek River and will comprise of 12 luxury tents, five-star cottages, sizeable conference facilities and will occupy about 25-acres of land. The firm also noted that the facility will be strategically located allowing tourists to watch wild animals from the comfort of their rooms.
Royal Orchid first entered the Kenyan hospitality market in 2014 and this will be its first Hotel in the Maasai Mara National Park. The hotel’s management also noted that an undisclosed number of Russian and Italian tourists have already booked several rooms before the grand opening scheduled for December.
