Equity Bank Kenya has appointed Polycarp Igathe as its new chief commercial officer. Mr Igathe will take on the role with immediate effect ahead of his official unveiling at the bank’s AGM on Thursday May 17th.
Mr Igathe most recently served as the Deputy Governor of Nairobi County before quitting citing “failure to earn the trust” of his boss Mike Mbuvi Sonko. Prior to that, Mr Igathe served as Managing Director Vivo Energy Kenya Kenya, before resigning in May 2017, to run for office. He also worked as the Managing Director at Haco Industries for a period of ten years, prior to joining Vivo Energy Kenya, in 2003.
Igathe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology, from the University of Nairobi and is a graduate of the Strathmore University’s Advanced Management Program (AMP) with IESE Business School in Spain.
