Manchester City has bagged more Premier League Championships than Arsenal. The more recent one was just last season (2021), while Arsenal last took the cup 13 years ago. This season the Citizens are leading with nine matches and 23 points, while the Gunners are running right behind them with eight matches and 21 points. The question is, which team will it end in tears for? Also, will it be tears of joy or pain? Is Arsenal strong enough to keep up and eventually land in the first position?

Speculations and Matches Played So Far
It’s easy to see Man City winning the EPL, as it is performing exceptionally well. They continue maintaining what they are known for, the best defenders and, while at it, score many goals. As a result, their chances of winning currently stand at 80%. Because of their dedication, this is one of those teams that will get fans to bet on EPL.
On the other hand, the Gunners have also started this season very well. The changes made in preparation for the EPL show dedication to taking the EPL. The team has brought in several talented players, including Matt Turner, Fabio Viera and Gabriel Jesus, to name a few. On top of that, at the beginning of the season, Arsenal had the top points, and now they are in the second position with two points behind City.
The Gunners seem determined to win this season or at least improve from how they performed last season. Some had speculated that this team would be winning this season even before it began. Others believe that the start of the 2022/23 season began very easy for Arsenal; they don’t stand a chance against the big guns. Their fate will be decided once they face leading teams like Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal V.S Elite Teams
So far, Arsenal has already lost 3-1 against the Red Devils and won 3-1 against Tottenham. On the other hand, Man City hasn’t lost any of the nine matches it has played so far, and it won 6-3 against Man United. Instead of losses, the Sky Blues have had two draws. One of the draws was in the match with Aston Villa, which lost 2-1 against Arsenal. The Gunners are still to face Newcastle, and we are all wondering if they’ll perform better than the leading team.
These two teams seem to have different qualities that make it impossible to predict which team has a better chance of winning against which team. We cannot deny the tremendous strength shown by the Sky Blues, which resulted in them scoring the highest number of goals (33) and removing Arsenal from the first position. At the same time, we cannot deny that Arsenal is playing so much better this season. The effort shows so much that it took first place at the beginning of the season and didn’t slip all the way down after losing the first spot. With three or more points, it could climb back up. Regarding other elite teams, at least the Gunners are right behind the Citizens in points, goals scored and winning odds.
Does Arsenal Stand A Chance?
So, do the Gunners have what it takes to earn more points in the upcoming matches to go back up to first or at least keep the second position? We don’t know; anything is possible this season, but we hope it will improve from the fifth position it closed last season with. It will have to pull its socks up in the upcoming matches. This is specifically more so with matches against elite teams. On top of that, the EPL is filled with competitive teams that won’t make it easy for the Gunners to shoot their shots or the Citizens to be too comfortable.
Arsene Wenger, the former Arsenal manager, has also pumped up fans’ hopes by assuring them that they stand a good chance this season. But he said this at the beginning of the season while the team was still dominating. Otherwise, we applaud these teams for their performance so far, as there are teams that have as low as four points in eight matches.
In Closing
Let’s all watch, stay entertained and only hope for the best. Man City and Arsenal are both excellent teams with their fair share of EPL titles. The former has had more cups than the latter and has been leaving a stamp in the more recent previous seasons. The bottom line is Arsenal is doing better than last season, and it doesn’t seem like it will be positioned far from the Citizens at the end of this season.
