Hilton Garden Inn Opens First Hotel In Nairobi

Hilton has opened the Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The 175-room hotel marks the arrival of the Hilton Garden Inn brand in Kenya.

The Hotel is expected to create at least 110 full-time jobs, as well as opportunities for sub-contractors and entrepreneurs responding to the hotel’s demand for products and services.

The hotel’s management team has also launched a training and development programme where team members can actively participate in cross-training in other departments, so as to broaden their knowledge and skills.

The hotel which is less than 10 minutes’ drive away from the airport is targeting the 6.5 million passengers who go through the airport every year.

The hotel is only 15km from the Nairobi Central Business District, offers easy access to Nairobi’s major attractions including the Karen Blixen Museum, The Giraffe Centre, Bomas of Kenya and the Nairobi National Park.

“I am delighted to celebrate the opening of another fantastic hotel property in Africa, particularly here in Kenya where we have been proud to operate for nearly 50 years. We see tremendous growth potential across the continent, and we look forward to bringing our signature hospitality to more guests in Africa in the years to come.” Said Hilton’s President, Chris Nassetta.

Hilton currently operates 21 hotels in the Sub Saharan Africa region and continues to grow with a commitment of $50 million over the next five years towards the Hilton Africa Growth Initiative.

Lorenzo Baleri, General Manager, Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi Airport said the goal is to grow, develop and promote talent from within the hotel industry adding that Hilton has a programme which will be extended to young people in hospitality institutes, providing them with internship opportunities and mentorship in order to add value to the industry.

This follows the entry of Marriott International which announced rapid expansion plans across Africa which will see Marriott International on track to increase its portfolio by 50 per cent.
