Healthcare Company Trivitron Appoints New CEO to Oversee African Operations

Trivitron Healthcare, the largest Medical Technology Company from India, has appointed Fungayi Kapungu as the Chief Executive Officer to oversee the company’s expansion into several African markets.

He will be running the company’s operations from Dubai where he will be responsible for day to day operations in the region and improving Trivitron’s overall performance.

“Trivitron’s comprehensive healthcare product portfolio along with its leading customer support and after-sales services is perfectly aligned to Africa which is a region that is seeking improved access and affordability of medical devices and related services,” said Mr Fungayi.

Recently, the company received Sh281 million ($2.75 million) from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to enable the distribution of medical equipment in Algeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria.

“As Chief Executive Officer of Trivitron Healthcare Africa, I personally share the vision of the company in providing affordable high-quality healthcare solutions to Africa,” Mr Fungayi added.

Fungayi is an alumnus of Harvard University where he got his Masters’ degree and he holds a B.A from the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he has about 20 years of senior management experience in top FMCG and medical services organisations in Africa such as Dickinson and Convatec. Fungayi was head-hunted by Stellar Search, a global executive advisory firm.

“I believe that Fungayi brings with him the right mix of strategic agility along with hands-on operational experience of leading medical devices organizations in a highly complex, fast evolving and fragmented market like Africa and am delighted to have placed a candidate of his calibre with Trivitron, an organization poised to be a major player in this market,” said Stellar Search partner Varun Sinha.
