Ritz Carlton DIFC, Dubai- Gulf African Bank (GAB), a Shari’ah compliant SME bank in Kenya, has received the best Islamic bank in Kenya award 2017 at the Islamic News Awards.  The award scheme recognises the best in the Islamic financial industry the world over.

“We are very pleased to be recognised globally as the best Islamic Bank in Kenya. 2017 was a tough year for banks in the country so we are especially proud of this award,” Abdallah Abdulkhalik, Gulf African Bank Managing Director said.

The MD also thanked the bank’s team across the country for having contributed to what GAB is today. He also said the bank will broaden access to financial solutions in 2019 to increase accessibility to the opportunities that Shari’ah banking offers.

The MD, Gulf African Bank was also recently into the African Leadership CEO’s Hall of Fame in February 2018. African Leadership CEO Hall of Fame is an exclusive club that consists of top CEO’s who have continuously shown commitment and a passion for diligence, success, and transformational leadership.

The award comes at a time when GAB is celebrating 10 years of operations in Kenya as the first Shari’ah compliant bank in the East African region. GAB is committed to offering “innovative and competitive financial services solutions professionally, through principles of fairness and integrity while enhancing the [well-being] of our customers.”

GAB recently opened a new branch along Luthuli Avenue, Nairobi, and is set to open two more branches in Hurlingham and Mtwapa this year.
