Government Urged to Boost Broadband Coverage in Line with Big Four Agenda

Experts have urged the government to improve broadband coverage to stimulate the growth of ICT in realization of the Big Four Agenda.

Alex Fares, CEO Unitel Services Limited, notes that the country has made strides in boosting internet connectivity. However, the are gaps in both reliability and consistency in the said connectivity. Reliable connectivity is the backbone of e-Services across education, healthcare, and movement of goods.

The CEO challenged the government to establish proper coverage in select regions, citing that internet connectivity is a critical necesity for economic growth. Fares cited the North Eastern Kenya as one of the palces with low coverage.

The government has directed a lot of investment at infrastructure but that maybe not enough. It (the government) should make more efforts to realize to see results from the growth of broadband infrastructure.
