The government will re-advertise the position of Auditor General after failure to find Edward Ouko’s successor in the first round.
A committee tasked with selecting a candidate from 17 shortlisted has failed to submit the candidate. Ten of those who had applied for the position are from the Auditor General’s office and include Deputy Auditor General William Agunda, David Gichana, Edwin Kamar, Sylvester Kiini, Alex Rugera, Nancy Gachungu, Dennis Kariuki, Leonard Lari, Elizabeth Mwathi, Francis Njenga and David Kanja.
Others were Abdullahi Idris, David Muchoki, Kitonyo Peter, Leonard Rang’ala, Francis Kigo, Moses Edwin, Tulula Joseph, and Calistus Wekesa.
The delay in appointing the Auditor General means that state corporations will further delay the announcement of financial reports. Already, Kenya Power and KenGen have already notified CMA about the extended date for the release of their financial reports.
