Government Rakes in KSh 154 Bn from Mining Licences

The issuance of mining licenses accounted for the largest share of income to the mining sector, contributing KSh 154 Billion of KSh 223.6 billion the sector generated in 2024.

    • •The mining dealer license, usually given out to individuals or companies for cutting, polishing, refining, and treating minerals was the least contributor, generating KSh 0.7 million to the ministry.

    • •The total value for mineral production reduced from Ksh 33.8 billion in 2023 to Ksh 25.5 billion in 2024, mainly attributed to reduced earnings from titanium.
