Google Startups Black Founders Fund has selected 25 Startups to feature in its third cohort, a clear demonstration of the Fund’s commitment to the digital economy in Africa and the future potential of these startups.
The list of Startups picked includes Kenya’s Fleetsimplify, a platform that links gig drivers and vehicle owners. Also included is Jumba-that seeks to improve Kenya’s construction sector supply chain via the B2B platform; the Tushop a platform for buying daily essentials in Kenya, fintech firm Uzapoint, as well as Zydii which provides tailored digital training solutions for African SMEs.

Other inspiring startups picked by the Fund in 2023 include Akoma Health, Evolve Credit, Fez Delivery, Orda, Periculum and Raenest, and TruQ, as well as Herconomy, MDaaS Global and My Pocket Counsel, all these being startups from Nigeria.
This list also includes BezoMoney from Ghana, Chargel from Senegal, Charis UAS (Rwanda), Excel At Uni (South Africa), EzyAgric (Uganda), HealthDart (South Africa), Ridelink (Uganda), Susu (Côte d’Ivoire) and Talamus Health (Ghana) and Zinacare (South Africa), an online platform that provides affordable e-health services
Available figures indicate that one-third of Africa’s population will be under 35 years by 2050, a demographic that indicates a booming market for startups in Africa already leveraging on tech to fix the continent’s challenges while benefiting from its huge market.
This year, each selected startup will get up to $150,000 in non-dilutive cash awards, $200,000 in Google Cloud credits, Google Ads support, and one-on-one mentoring from Googlers and industry experts.
