- According to US media, Tech firms Facebook and Google will allow most of their staff to continue working from home till the end of 2020. Facebook had earlier cancelled all events with more than 50 people until June 2021.
- Ride-hailing firm Uber Inc. has announced Q1 2020 financials with net loss for the period widening by 190% YoY to $2.95 billion while revenue grew 14% to $3.54 billion.
- United States nonfarm payroll for the month of April fell by 20.5 Million while unemployment stood at 14.7% according to the country’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. The total number of unemployed individuals in the US was 23.1 million with the most affected sectors being hospitality and entertainment.
- Deutsche Lufthansa AG, commonly known as Lufthansa has announced plans to begin flights in June with 160 aircraft to 106 destinations during the period. The airlines Q1 2020 revenue fell by 18% to €6.4 billion and is reportedly seeking a €9 billion package to minimize the impact of the virus.
