Gabonese Airlines have been removed from the Europe airspace blacklist, a directive that had caused the airlines not to access the European airspace. The airline has been on the blacklist for the past eleven years.
According to the EU Commission, they have removed Gabon from the blacklist following improvements in aviation safety in the country.
With the ban lift, Gabonese airlines including the National Regional Transport (NRT), Solenta Aviation Gabon, Tropical Air Gabon and Afrijet Business Service are free to commence flights to Europe.
However, all airlines based in Congo, DRC, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Liberia, Libya, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone and Sudan remain on Europe’s blacklist.
The EU Air Safety List, compiles airlines that do not meet international safety standards, and are therefore subject to an operating ban or operational restrictions within the European Union.
