French reinsurance firm SCOR is opening a new representative office focusing on non-life reinsurance in Nairobi, Kenya.
Following up on an initial approval granted in April 2016, the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya (IRA) has now confirmed that it approves the opening of a SCOR Global P&C SE representative office in the city of Nairobi.
The property and casualty reinsurance office will be operational as of the 1st September 2017 and will be led by Christian Ramamonjiarisoa. The office will support SCOR’s marketing activities across East African reinsurance markets.
SCOR says that setting up this representative office in Kenya is part of its “Vision in Action” strategic plan to expand and deepen its franchise, and that it demonstrates the reinsurers commitment to Africa. SCOR has been underwriting reinsurance business in Africa for over 40 years.
The Kenyan representative office will promote SCOR Global P&C’s capabilities and services in the East Africa region.

SCOR is tier 1 reinsurance company providing Property and Casualty (P&C) and Life reinsurance solutions to its clients. Created in 1970 with the backing of the French government its original name was Société Commerciale de Réassurance, hence SCOR.
