Kenya’s former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura’s term as the Chairman of Kenya Revenue Authority has been extended for three years by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (2) (a) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, the President and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Francis K. Muthaura (AMB.) to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 21st October, 2019, “said the Gazette Notice, dated 2nd October, 2019.
The Acting National Treasury and Planning Cabinet Secretary, who appoints the rest of the KRA board members, has picked Mr. Mukesh Shah, Eng. Leonard Ithau, and Mrs Susan Muthuna, for a three-year term at KRA Board, with effect from 21st October 2019. He also re-appointed Mrs. Rose Waruhiu and Mr. Paul Muchiri Ichara, to the Board. Ichara’s reappointment will take effect on 1st November 2019.
Muthaura was first appointed to this position after President Kenyatta revoked the appointment of former Planning PS Edward Sambili.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of Nairobi. He is also a holder of Honorary Doctorate Degrees from the Kenyatta University and Kenya Methodist University.
He has served as the Secretary to the Cabinet and a career diplomat. He has also served as Chairman of the Lamu Port and Lamu-Southern Sudan-Ethiopia (LAPSSET) Transport Corridor Development Authority and Britam Holdings Limited.
