Former KQ CEO, Sebastian Mikosz, Appointed IATA's VP for External Relations

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has appointed former Kenya Airways (KQ) CEO, Sebastian Mikosz, as the Senior Vice President for Member and External Relations with effect from 1st June 2020.

Mr Mikosz now takes over from Brian Pearce, IATA’s Chief Economist, who has been handling the duties of the post on an interim basis after Paul Steele retired from IATA in October 2019.

Mikosz is now tasked with leading the organization’s global advocacy activities and aero-political policy development, alongside managing the association’s strategic relationships.

Previously, Mikosz has served as the CEO of LOT Polish Airlines (2009-2011 and 2013-2015), and the CEO of Poland’s largest online travel agency, the eSKY Group (2015-2017).

He was KQ CEO between 2017 and 2019, offering to resign with effect from 31st December 2019, five months before his 3-year term came to an end.

In June 2018, while still KQ’s Managing Director and CEO, Sebastian Mikosz was elected to the IATA Board of Governors for a period of three years.

The International Air Transport Association is a trade association of the world’s airlines. It consists of 290 airlines, primarily major carriers, representing 117 countries. The association’s member airlines account for carrying approximately 82% of the total available seat miles air traffic. Its headquarters are in Montreal, Canada, with executive offices in Geneva, Switzerland.
