Former Kenya Re Boss Sentenced to 2 Years in Jail

The High Court has upheld the ruling that former Kenya Re executive, Jackson Githaka, serves two years in jail or pay a fine of KSh15.1 million for fraudulent acquisition of public property.

The case has been running in court since 2009. Jackson Githaka appealed against the ruling made in April 2019, sentencing him to two years in prison.

The former boss is accused of illegally receiving KSh7.26 million from the sale of a property owned by the United Insurance Company.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission began investigating this matter in 2005.
