President Uhuru Kenya has nominated former Kenya Power managing director Ben Chumo for the position of chairman at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

The nominated persons will take over these roles once Parliament vets and approves their nominations. The National Assembly committee on Finance and National Planning will vet Dr Chumo withing 14 days while the Justice and Legal Affairs committee will vet the CAJ nominees within 21 days.

If his nomination is approved, Dr Chumo will replace Sarah Salem whose term expired in December 2017. Dr Chumo was picked from a list of potential candidates including Public Service Commission (PSC) vice chairperson Peter Ole Nkurayia and former Institute of Certified Public Accounts of Kenya (ICPAK) chief executive Patrick Ngumi.
