    Five Kenyan companies shortlisted for 2016 African FinTech Awards

    Five Kenyan companies have been shortlisted for recognition as one of the African FinTech Top three within their respective categories, derived from the list of 100 most promising African FinTech companies.  A total of 28 Kenyan companies were nominated including MPESA, 3G Direct, PesaPal and crowd sourcing platform, M-Changa.

    And being one of the Top three FinTech companies has landed the organisations an invitation to pitch at the FinTech Awards on 13 October 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa.  The presentation includes a 7-minute demonstration followed by a Q&A will be decisive in establishing the winner of the category plus one overall winner.

    The Kenyan companies in the various categories are:  Payment – Cellulant; Retail Banking – Eclectics International; Blockchain/Bitcoin – BitPesa and two in Lending & Financing – Branch and FarmDrive.

    More than 30,000 FinTech enthusiasts from all over the world voted for their favourite company from the list of most promising African FinTechs.   This was in addition to a panel of judges consisting of FinTech experts, experienced FinTech investors, innovation leads of Africa’s top banks and FinTech visionaries.

    The African FinTech Awards is the place where innovative and disruptive FinTech companies are recognised. Over 500 entrepreneurs, bankers, investors and advisors will attend giving opportunities to extend networks, exchange knowledge and develop business. The African FinTech Awards forms an integrated part of Finance Indaba Africa and is the largest conference and expo for finance professionals on the continent.
