The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has completed the construction of the first Outer Ring Road footbridge in Nairobi. The footbridge is located at the Baba Dogo section along the newly constructed road that stretched from the GSU headquarters at Allsops in Ruaraka to Taj Mall on the North Airport Road.
The new footbridge has been constructed by Chinese firm Sinohydro Tianjin Engineering Limited. The firm is expected to construct ten more footbridges along the North Airport Road.
KURA said the first Outer Ring footbridge at Baba Dogo has been successfully installed and other installation works are continuing along the road.
The construction works of the Outer Ring Road are expected to be complete by July 2018 although the initial completion date was September 2017. The construction of the road began on September 2014.
Although the construction of the road is not yet complete, the road has been operational since July 2017.
