First Celo Africa Web3 Fund Workshop kicks off in Nairobi

Celo, the global payments infrastructure that makes financial tools accessible to anyone with a mobile phone, kicked off its inaugural Africa Web3 Fund workshop in Nairobi on Tuesday, 25th July 2022.

The Celo Africa Web3 Fund was launched earlier in July and seeks to onboard web 2.0 companies that could scale significantly if they adopt blockchain technology.

The workshop attracted more than 40 companies with participation from Web3 industry experts, Celo Africa leads and senior investors who are part of the Web 3 fund. Investors in attendance include Principals from Unicorn Growth Capital, Echo VC Principal and Flourish Ventures.

The next Celo Web3 Fund workshop will take place in Nigeria in August, Ghana in September, Uganda in October and South Africa in November 2022.

The Celo Africa Web3 Fund builds on Celo’s active presence in several African countries where Celo is engaged with local developer communities, and where it has been running pioneering pilots in the areas of microwork, micropayments and DeFi lending, together with international and local partners such as Mercy Corps Ventures, Cinch and Kotani Pay.

For more information on the Celo Africa Web3 Fund, and to apply please visit the website.
