Fireside Chat with Tesla's Charles Mwangi Edwin Macharia of Dalberg

At a recent forum organized by consulting firm Dalberg, we were fortunate to have the company’s regional director Edwin Macharia and Tesla Senior Director of Engineering Charles Mwangi to discuss a wide range of topics on the innovative technologies that are improving the automotive engineering industry.

The forum brought together representatives from government, the business community and academia to examine the issues around automotive manufacturing, a sector that’s undergoing its greatest disruption in more than a century. Mr Charles observed that technology advancements that include robotics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) will transform most aspects of the auto-manufacturing process, from research, design to project management and business support functions.

He further noted that the Kenya needs to put in place proper policies that will support the country’s manufacturing industry which is part of the government’s big four agenda.

Kenya can only be competitive in #nextgenmanufacturing if we up our game. International Investors cannot be waiting for over 1 year for licenses when looking to invest over half a billiion to support #big4agenda
