UAE’s flag carrier, Etihad Airways, has suspended its scheduled flights until 15th May 2020. Initially, the airline had planned to partially resume passenger flights from 1st May 2020.
Etihad and other UAE airlines have been operating outbound-only flights for foreigners wishing to leave the Gulf Arab state, which has banned the entry of foreigners due to the global coronavirus outbreak.
“Due to the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic, the suspension of scheduled passenger services to and from the UAE remains in place. While Etihad hoped to resume a reduced network of scheduled passenger services from 1st May, subject to the UAE government-imposed travel restrictions being lifted, the airline will now delay this plan until at least 16th May, due to the ongoing situation,” read a statement from the airline.
Etihad Airways is the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the second-largest airline in the country after Emirates. Its head office is in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, near Abu Dhabi’s International Airport.
