Ethio – Telecom will be the first state-owned company to be partially privatised, Ministry of Finance Communication Director, Haji Ebsa has confirmed.
Ebsa said that the telco will be given priority in order to set the pace for others. Four government companies are set for privatisation This is set to encourage local and foreign investors and stimulate the country’s development and economic growth.
“Accordingly, technical and steering committees are established under Ministry of Finance, and a macro committee under the Office of the Prime Minister, “Haji was quoted by Ethiopian News Agency.
Other firms set for privatisation include Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopian Shipping & Logistics Services Enterprise, and Ethiopian Electric Power.
